Riki Money - RRT & Pediatric Sleep Consultant

The Face Behind TSV

hey hey!!

I’m so happy you’re here, my name is Riki and I am the face behind The Sleepy Village!

I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist so sleep was already my jam, just in a slightly different way. Any kind of sleep disordered breathing and issues heavily involve us. In both adults and pediatrics breathing can be a huge factor when it comes to quality (& quantity) of sleep. Most well known disorders we deal with are obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea among many, many others. We do have an in depth knowledge of sleep cycles, sleep habits and healthy sleep hygiene!

Why pursue the art of transforming baby sleep into optimal baby sleep? Well I don’t necessarily have a dramatic story and life changing experience that lead me to it. I just believe people deserve to live and be the best version of themselves and that all begins with a sleep foundation they can rely on, so why not start and establish that when you’re just itty bitty. Thus the birth of The Sleepy Village!

  • I LOVE travelling, although I’m also a homebody.

  • Reid, is my fiance! My absolute best friend! I love this man and the life we have together (cliche I know ;) We are planning our wedding for the fall of 2024.

  • I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist and work in the Operating room in Red Deer! Previously did a stent at the Stollery children’s hospital when I started my career but the big city was not for this gal.

  • I was raised in east central Alberta on a cattle farm, I am the oldest of 4 siblings and one of 25 first cousins on my dads side so I come from a family with a lot going on!

  • Beau! My almost 3 year old black lab, I’m obsessed with him. He’s the most easy going guy I know, Reid would say I take my role as dog mom far too seriously.

  • I played volleyball competitively growing up and now continue to play rec! In the winter we frequent the ski hill (I’m a snowboarder). I love walking, especially down by the river.

so why should you work with me??

three reasons - all layed out and convincing here!

the memo I want every mama (& caregiver) to know..

Our society has ‘promoted’ a ‘badge of honour’ when it comes to sleep deprivation. Sometimes people are quick to put sleep on the back burner and prioritize other things. I don’t believe society as a whole realizes how much more productive and how moods improve when we ensure we are practicing healthy sleep hygiene & habits.

You do not have to wear this badge and sleep is not a mandatory parent sacrifice. You are an exceptional parent and EXACTLY what your babe needs.

Now I know you may be thinking, you don’t have any kids so how can you possibly relate to parents and the sleep deprivation they are experiencing?

You’re absolutely right I can’t relate on that exact level, what I can relate on is working night shifts and how they drastically affected me. I wasn’t myself, I noticed my personality shifting, my temper shortening. I knew this wasn’t who I am and this wasn’t the life I was looking to continue living. When Beau was just a 3 month old puppy he had the runs and there were several nights he woke me up every 45 minutes to go outside (of course Reid slept right through his little whimpers). I am in no way saying a puppy is equivalent to a baby, but it was an experience that I wasn’t looking to relive, like ever.
